JAES - official journal of GSAf

Agreement has been reached between the Society and Elsevier, the publishers of the Journal of African Earth Sciences (JAES), whereby JAES becomes the official journal of the Society.

All GSAf members are urged to take advantage of this valuable and prestigeous association when seeking to publish their work. Individual Members are reminded, too, that they are entitled to receive personal copies of JAES at the special rate of US$86 for the 2005 issues. This offer may also be attractive to prospective new members of the Society!

Reduced subscription rate for GSAf members

Individual Members of the Geological Society of Africa are eligible to receive a year's issues of the Journal of African Earth Sciences for only US$86 in 2005. This represents a valuable saving on the normal price charged to non-members of the Society (see www.elsevier.com/locate/jafrearsci for details).

Paid-up Members who wish to take advantage of this discount should apply in the first instance through their national or regional GSAf Councillor, or through the Assistant Secretary General/Membership Secretary, or direct to the Honorary Treasurer. (The addresses of all Council members are given elsewhere on the GSAf homepage.) Once verified, the applications will be forwarded through the web coordinator (who is the Honorary Treasurer) to Elsevier, the publisher of the journal. Elsevier will then invoice the Member directly.

Remember, this offer applies only to those who are fully paid up Individual members of the Society! The reduced price is not available to Institutional members.

Non-members of the Society who are interested in benefiting from the JAES offer are welcome to apply to join the Society in order to qualify!

HOW? The GSAf website gives the names and contact details of all Council members . Please contact the most convenient of these for an application form or utilise the application form on the website, complete and submit it by e-mail, fax or post. The Council member concerned will then contact you to arrange the simplest form of payment of the subscription (details given on the application form).

WHY JOIN? If you are working in Africa, recognise the benefits of networking and scientific collaboration; are keen to see the promotion of geoscience and the professional advancement of African geoscientists throughout the continent; and are supportive of the relevance and application of geoscience to social and economic development in Africa in the 21st century, then please consider joining GSAf .
