Political Science on the Internet

On-Line Research

There are many excellent sites for studying political science on the internet.
On-line research is fun, but can be time consuming and frustrating.   There are two good strategies for pursuing a research topic in political science.   First, learn to use various search engines.  Search engines identify sites with relevant words or phrases.  These sites can provide starting points for pursuing various topics.  Note the limitations to search engine research: you are limited by your choice of key words and different search engines will yield different results.   Alta Vista is my favorite search engine, although I often check my searches on Excite, Infoseek, Lycos and Metacrawler.

Another strategy for on-line research is to go to one of the search sites that maintains extensive lists of sites categorized by topic.  Good list sites are maintained by Yahoo, Mining Company, and Alta VistaGood bibliographic searches for books by subject, author, and title can be conducted at the on-line sites for Amazon Books and Barnes and Noble. For additional sites integrated into specific courses, visit the syllabi for the various courses listed above on this website.
