Laboratories:

Statistical Signal Processing Research Laboratory (SSPRL):

SSPRL is located on the 4th floor of north building of school of engineering and computer science, (ECSN 4.218).

The Lab is equipped with 14 high-performance computers with flat, wide monitors, overhead projector, conference

table, and study desks and book-shelves. All personal computers are connected to the UTD network with access to

internet, library and periodical publications. They are equipped with complete Microsoft Office Windows & XP,

and MatLab, NI’s LabView, Adobe Audio, Visio, and complete software design and simulation packages. The lab

provides research, study, and working environment for the PhD and MSc research students. There are also 8 TI’s

TMS320C/F5xxx and ‘6xxx DSP (EVM and DSK) platforms, as well as 2 TI’s ‘MSP430, and 2 Microchip PIC

Microcontroller platforms.

Audio, Acoustic, and Speech Research Laboratory (UTAL):

UTAL is located on the ground floor of north building of school of engineering and computer science,

(ECSN 2.802). The Lab is equipped with a test-bed mimicking the fMRI bore. The test-bed consists of

an actual fMRI bore size, half-cylindrical tube, 8 high –performance Microphones, preamplifiers, long

shielded cables, and power supplies, 8 high-fidelity loud-speakers, function generators, digital oscilloscopes,

5 high-speed, high-capacity state-of-art computers with 24 inch flat monitors, two 8 channel high-fidelity

audio amplifiers, four head-phones /head-sets, 4 8-channel parallel ADC and 8-channel DAC board with 3

Mega gate on-board FPGA, 4 Texas Instruments (TI) digital Audio/amplifier boards, 7 TI’s high-speed

floating-point DSK platforms with associated software (Code Composer Studio), Adobe Audio software,

National Instruments (NI) LabVIEW (graphical design) software package,  3 full-size and half-size manikins,

and several analog filter design boards. The equipment also include 3 wireless microphones, 4 ultrasound array

of directional loudspeakers. There are also two anechoic chambers and 8 hearing aid devices, and 2 smartphones.
