Assignment 1: Planning a capture session

Description:

Process book research

Every motion capture professional whom I have talked to and every book on motion capture that I have read emphasize the importance of planning ahead. Without a good plan, your mocap project is destined to fail. You need to document your ideas before going into a motion capture session.

Everyone in the class should work in a group. Each group should have to three or four members. For each person in the group, there has to be two captured motions to be edited, e.g., three people in a group equals six captured motions.

This first project is a group project. You will have time to capture for individual projects outside of the class (or for the second project if we successfully follow the course schedule!). Outside captures are encouraged for people trying to use motion capture for different projects, but they need to be involved in the group project for the class. There are no exceptions.

Let's use the default marker set up used by Vicon for this first project.

Create the following three items for this assignment: (click links to see the work)

* a storyboard also the script
* a planning sheet
* a shot list

Set up a web site and post the storyboard, a planning sheet, and a shot list in your group's process book.

(well, you're looking at the web site!)
