To the Headless Girl

Step right up Ladies and Gents,
                            for behind this curtain moves
                            the miraculous Headless Girl!

I wonder where dreams stir within you.
And if they do,
how do those visions mutter and rise
from your impossible flesh
that was born stopped at the neck?
I search for a small twitch,
a lift of breath in your chest.
I see youth in your limbs and torso,
the dress a slim fit
that inspires men.
If only I could exchange
my graceless body, this weighted mind
for all you have.
Your movements are free,
urged only by that slim string of hope
spinning within your searching limbs.
Your body wanders to never find
the part that easily dreams
to make you complete.
