Brushing Up on Single Variable Calculus

If you need to brush up on your single variable calculus, here are the sections of Smith and Minton's "Calculus" that we rely on in Math 251. Starred sections are especially important.

2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5**, 2.6, 2.7, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.7, 4.1, 4.3-4.5, 4.6**, 5.1-5.4, 6.2

The material from Chapter 4,5,6 is used in Math 251 Chapters 13, 14.

Info Re Exam I

Exam I will cover 10.1-10.6, the parts of 13.6 and 13.7 just on cylindrical and spherical coordinates (ie not integration) and 11.1.

Info Re Exam II

Exam II will cover 11.1, 11.2, 11.4, 11.6, 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 12.4, 12.5, 12.6, 12.7, and 12.8.

Exam III will cover 13.1-13.3, 14.1-14.4.

Info Re Final Exam

The final exam will cover all sections covered on the three mid term exams as well as 14.5, 14.6, 14.7, 14.8, 13.5, 13.6, 13.7 and 13.8. There will be more emphasis on material since the third midterm and on the material covered in Exam II. Previous finals and midterms available on the course web page will give you a good guide to the sorts of questions to expect.

The final will be held in MP 104 from 10:30-12:30 on Friday Dec 18th.
