I am Kumaraswamy Ramanathan. I am a Master of Science (M.S) student in the Electrical Engineering Department, Eric Jonsson School of Engineering, University of Texas at Dallas. I am associated with the Embedded and Adaptive Computing Group (EAC) and Center for Integrated Circuits and Systems(CICS) as part of my research work. My advisors are Dr. Dinesh Bhatia and Dr. Poras Balsara. My research interests are in the VLSI circuit design issues targetting signal processing and Multimedia applications.
I received my Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) in Electronics and Communication Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Allahabad (formerly Regional Engineering College (REC)), India in June 2000. I joined Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), New Delhi, India as Research Engineer in August 2000, in Optical Transmission Technology Division. C-DOT is a premier Research and Development center for Telecommunication Technologies under Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Govt. of India. It is a pioneer in bring telecommunication revolution in India in 80s and played a huge role in Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's vision of taking Telecommunication to Masses. I worked in telecommunication technologies like Dense and Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) and SONET/SDH. My responsibilities included taking part in the system design from architectural stage and as a hardware design engineer, designing and implementation of those systems in PC Boards. I departed from C-DOT in December 2005 to pursue higher studies in Engineering.
I was born in the city of Tirunelveli located in the South Indian state of Tamilnadu on 7th February 1979 as the second son of Mrs and Mr Ramanathan Pillai.
