Research Interests

I am interested in applying speech signal processing to create voice-enabled technologies and platforms in which the human speech is used as a primary way of interaction between users and computers. My research has been mainly focused on finding ways to extend the current speech technologies to the more general case of distant speech, that is, when the user is not talking close to a recording device or a worn headset or lapel microphone. Some of the areas I have worked on are:

  • Speech dereverberation and denoising
  • Robust speech feature extraction
  • Acoustic modeling (Deep learning in speech recognition)
  • Microphone array processing
  • Blind source separation
  • Speaker localization and tracking
