Equipment issues. Diagnostic Tools: I-V probes.

  • Pulsed power may disrupt the operation of standard I-V probes.
    • Current, voltage and power are now a function of time.
      • Synchronization of the I-V measurements to the pulse period will be required.
      • Time resolution much better than the pulse period.
      • Accounting for the inherent “time delay” between the I-V probes is necessary for power calculations.
    • Wattmeters can still provide a reasonably accurate average forward and reverse power. (Provided the pulse period is << the response time of the meter.)
