Equipment issues. Diagnostic Tools: Langmuir probes.

• Pulsed power may disrupt the operation of standard Langmuir probes.
  • Plasma potential and electron energy are time dependent.
    • Synchronization of the Langmuir probe measurements to the pulse period will be required.
    • Time resolution much better than the pulse period. (Can induce noise problems.)
  • RF leakage (into probe circuits) is a function of time.
    • “RF compensated” probes may be required for high density pulsed plasmas.
    • can cause false Te spike at turn-on regime.
