The University of Texas at Dallas

Undergraduate Dialup Bulletin Board System

The UTD BBS will cease operations as of July 15, 2001.

Offering CAI courseware (computer-assisted-instruction), images of the University (and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center), the current Class Schedules and Undergraduate Catalog, internet e-mail, and forums for focussed messages, the U.T. Dallas Undergraduate BBS is available to anyone with a modem and communication software. It serves both PC and Macintosh platforms with over 21,000 downloadable files off 14 CDs. There is no charge for its services.

The hardware will respond to modems at speeds up to 33,600 bits/sec on two lines: (972) 883-2932 and (972) 883-2168. The system is an AMD 133 MHz cpu with 20 Mb RAM and nearly 14 Gb of storage. The software is Mustang's WILDCAT! 4.20M multitasking under QuarterDeck's DESQview in DOS 5.

The BBS system offers "callback verification" whereby, having recorded your modem's telephone number, the BBS disconnects your initial call and dials YOU up! Your answer and confirmation of your password verifies you for using all aspects of the BBS.

The CoSysOp (co-Systems-Operator) is Craig McAdams, a U.T. Dallas alumnus!

The Systems Operator is Chris Parr who has a Home Page at U.T. Dallas and may be reached by all the means below:
