About

B. Prabhakaran

Professor Of Computer Science,
Associate Vice President for Research Centers and Institutes, Office of Research and Innovation (ORI), The University Of Texas At Dallas.

With multi-faceted experience in inter-disciplinary research, managing large research programs and federal public policy, Prof. B. Prabhakaran works on two overlapping research areas:

  • MIXR: Multimodal, Interactive eXtended Reality (MIXR) for understanding and quantifying human performance. Understanding and quantification of human performance can in turn help in multiple ways: better human-computer interaction (HCI), improved training, rehabilitation, adaptive techniques to overcome deficit sensorial perceptions (such as phantom pain, speech, and hearing impairments).
  • HDSS: AI-based Healthcare Decision Support Systems (AI-HDSS) are increasingly being used for clinical decision support, remote monitoring, and self-management of various healthcare conditions such as cardio-metabolic diseases, physical medicine & rehabilitation, speech pathology & treatment, and radiation oncology.

In the past, he has worked on multimedia databases, authoring & presentation, resource management, and scalable web-based multimedia presentation servers. He has published several research papers in prestigious conferences and journals in this area.
