Before to joining UTD, experience included more than 30 years in the field of Federal tax with IRS, largely involving resolution of disputed tax issues of large and mid-size corporations, as well as individuals. Positions included top level management positions as Assistant to the Director, Appeals Division, National Office of IRS, Assistant Regional Director of Appeals with oversight of the twelve state Midstates Region and former Southwest Region, and as Chief, Dallas Appeals Office. Responsibilities included both direct resolution of disputed tax issues, and as national, regional and local management of IRS Appeals division operations. Was charged with resolving such issues preceding and precluding the necessity of litigation.
Began teaching in Federal taxation at The University of Texas at Dallas as an adjunct during the fall semester of 1990; joined UTD in a full time management position, Director of Budget and Financial Affairs, on February 1, 1999, while continuing to teach part time. For the spring semester 2004, converted to full time teaching as a Senior Lecturer. Courses include:

Partnership Taxation (including online course)
Corporate Tax
Individual Income Tax
Prior responsibilities as an Appeals manager and officer in the resolution of large and mid-size corporation tax and individual income tax issues have provided him unique knowledge and valuable insight into the tax resolution process in IRS.
Is a CPA, and does consulting in Federal tax dispute resolution. Has authored numerous articles on tax resolution published in the Journal of Accountancy and Tax Adviser magazines.
Is a member of the Tax Section of the AICPA.
