Biographical Sketch

I have been teaching at The University of Texas at Dallas for 19 years.  I was awarded UTD's Advisor of the Year (2001/2002) for my work as faculty advisor for the UTD Student Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP).  I was also honored with the School of Management's "Outstanding Teacher - 1996-1997" award.

For 4 years I administered the MIS program and implemented a professional advanced methodology (Information Engineering) program that doubled MIS enrollment in two years. I currently teach courses in MIS. I have also taught courses in Finance, Operations Management, and Policy Administration.

My academic interests include Web Publishing, Web Applications development, Desktop Applications Productivity, Teaching Productivity and Techniques,  Systems Analysis & Design, Business Modeling and Total Quality Management. I developed and implemented the graduate course Web Systems Design and Development and the undergraduate course Desktop Computing with Applications course at UTD that incorporates many of these areas.

I have about 30 years business experience working primarily for Texas Instruments, other high technology companies, and as a Consultant. I have worked primarily in the areas of Web Development and Management, Systems Analysis/Development, Planning and Finance. I designed, developed and implemented a significant number of information systems during this period.

I have developed and managed a number of web sites including Dallas Mayor Laura Miller's original personal site.  I developed a course for the Indonesian government on TQM (Total Quality Management) and BPR (Business Process Re-engineering) which I taught in Bali and Sumatra. I have also developed several interactive multimedia modules for CD-ROM and other ancillary material for major textbook publishers.

My Masters degree is in Management and Administration (Finance/MIS) and my undergraduate is a BS in Industrial Engineering.

I have served as President, Webmaster, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Association for Computer Educators in Texas (ACET).  I have also served as a member of the Eastfield College Information Systems Advisory Committee. I am also a former Director and Vice President of the Institute of Industrial Engineers.

I am currently the faculty advisor for the UTD Student Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP).
