g26.    Where is drinkable water found?

Surface water does not soak into the ground or evaporate. Watersheds are areas where water drains from the land and collects (Locate Your Watershed).  The Water Table is the upper layer of the zone of saturation (the area under ground were water collects in porous rocks); this is ground water. Aquifers yield an economically significant amount of water. Most aquifers recharge naturally through precipitation.
