Hydropower and biomass supply 17% of the world's energy and 9% of the US's energy. Of the energy reserves 92%are potentially renewable. Non-renewable resources make up the rest: 5% is coal, 2.5% is oil and 0.5% is uranium. Each $1 spent on renewable energy generates $2.33 to $2.92 of local economy activity versus $0.64 generated by imported oil.
