m23.    What is energy efficiency?

Energy efficiency means doing more with less. The US wastes as much energy as 2/3 of the rest world's population consumes. The US spends 11% of its GNP on energy; Japan spends 5%, giving Japanese goods an automatic 6% cost advantage. Sweden and South Korea have the toughest standards for efficient energy usage in buildings and homes. The average Swedish home consumes 1/3 less energy than that consumed by the same size US home. Building a super insulated house can reduce energy waste by 75%.
