m24.    How is energy used?

Industrial processes consume 36% of the energy used in the US. Cogeneration units recover about 2/3 of the energy wasted in conventional boilers and use it to produce both heat and electricity. About 60-70% of the electricity used in the US drives motors. Energy is also used for transportation; ¼ of the commercial energy in the US is used to move people and goods. The US has 35% of the world's cars and drive as far each year as the rest of the world combined.
