m33. How does global warming affect climate?
Measured levels of CO2, nitrous oxide, methane, and CFCs have risen in the last decade. Human activity, burning, deforestation, and so on, have increased these levels (AIRNOW).
The countries that emit all these gases are: US (18.4%), Russia et al. (13.5%), China (9.1%), Japan (4.7%), India (4.1%), Brazil (3.9%), and Germany (3.4%). Since 1970, the oceans have absorbed more than 1/3 of excess CO2. Some scientists believe that virgin forests have absorbed at least this much. Those portions of the forests, which have been disturbed, absorb less excess CO2. Deforestation may account for a rise in excess CO2 of 20-33%.
