Desalination of seawater can be accomplished either by distillation or by reverse osmosis. Distillation involves heating the water until it forms steam, then collecting the condensation. Reverse osmosis requires than salt water be pumped through a semi-permeable membrane that traps the salt. Cloud seeding involved seeding the clouds with silver iodide so than water will condense around these particles. Icebergs could be towed southward and as they melt, pump the fresh water to holding tanks.
