 UTTC Services

Student Portal

The UTTC website (http://uttc.org) is open for public access; however, the TeleCampus course management system (http://uttc.blackboard.com) is only available to currently registered students. It's a secure shell that requires a UTTC username and password for authentication. (You can manage those details through the TIS.)

To save some clicks, bookmark the first login page (http://uttc.blackboard.com), not the second one.

If you can connect to the internet, you can get to the TeleCampus! Even if you're not at your own computer, you can easily get to class from the main UTTC website. Just go to "uttc.org" and click on the 'Course Login' student shortcut just below the UTTC banner. (Be advised, however, that other systems will probably not be configured like your own. You may encounter issues because of firewall settings or administrative privileges that prevent certain required installs.)

To get to this module about 'the basics', you'll typically log in to a UTTC course. If you got here that way, you've already seen the Student Portal! (Faculty can access your Student Portal view, although they mostly use the Faculty Portal for course management.) Notice that you can jump to the public TeleCampus website by clicking on the 'UT TeleCampus' logo in the top-left corner of most course pages.

Take a few minutes to explore the many areas of the portal if you haven't already. There's a lot of useful information that might save you some time. Did you know that you can personalize the page layout? You can also select a different theme if you don't like the default! Click the 'Contents' and 'Layout' buttons to set these parameters. To manage what appears in some content boxes, click on the pencil symbol in the title bar. You'll find a detailed 'Portal Tutorial' in the 'UTTC Student Handbook'.

Take advantage of the handy 'Student Links' on the left to access important information. We'll take a closer look at several key UTTC Services in this module... Always scan the announcements so that you're up to speed on the latest UTTC news and and your course. Instructor notices, system maintenance, and other key dates/events will be listed here for your convenience.

Note that if you click to view a course announcement from within the 'Student Portal', you do not actually enter the course.

In other words, if there happens to be a course link in an announcement you view from the portal, you will not go to that page in the 'normal' way. It's not a problem since most courses - and all MAT-SE basics - open to the 'Announcements' page by default. When you're ready to work, just click on the course title to 'come to class'. You can read and review announcements within the actual course - and any course links will work as expected!
