My Pets
Well, my best buddy of all times, a Rhodesian hound died in the spring of 2002 and I still miss him; he would have been 13 on Columbus day 2002. His ashes are in a box on the Mantel. Wally was just a great pal and we traveled across country several times; Wally would sleep in the back seat because he was just too big for the front seat minus the room I take up.
Darn Cat; so-named because the city of Richardson wouldn't let me register her as Damn Cat. She's a calico and one neighbor calls her a terrorist; I told the neighbor to feed her and she would be nice. Now, Darn Cat has a second home. She likes to sleep on top of the Convertible when the top is up and stays in the attic during most days and helps with stray, surplus attic critters.
A Yellow-Furry-four-legged-front-porch slug; in 1994, Wally found him under the porch and carried him around in his mouth. We got him cleaned up and because it was July, named him Julius and then that was changed to Orange Julius; but we do not call him OJ, OK? He's a pretty good pal; likes to sleep in trees. Last weighed at 16 pounds and eats whatever he finds. Orange Julius and Wally were great buddies, also; but he barely tolerates Darn Cat. Julius likes to jump up on the hammock with me and now and then we fall out of it. Other than sleeping and eating, Julius' major interest is the numerous creek-critters in the creek behind the house; mainly the ducks and a great big turtle; he also occasionally tangles with the 'coons who live downstream. I have seen him almost a ½ mile downstream and a neighbor ¼ mile up-stream recognized him as the cat 'that sleeps under the bridge'. This is a real wide range for front-porch slugs!
G. Willy Cur; A mutt of dubious ancestry, some black Lab, maybe some Dobe. He's taken over the back yard and doesn't bark unless something needs tending to. Darn Cat teases him through holes in the fence; Orange Julius eats with him and they seem to tolerate each other.
Assistant Cat; found her at the feed store. She's a calico - not as mean as Darn Cat - but can be insistent. We call her AC for short. The vet thinks she may be about 1 year old.
