These old cars were not deliberately collected; they just somehow became a part of my life and here are their stories. They all are Pontiacs...
1972 Catalina convertible; bought from R.O. Evans on November 7th, 1972. Over 400,000 miles; fourth paint, fifth or sixth top and third or fourth interior, and two car-jacking attempts. Fitted with automatic fuel shut-off, kill combination-switch, and LO-JACK beacon-GPS. Just why anyone would want to steal the thing simply amazes me, but then maybe not. I traded in a GrandPrix convertible which was the biggest lemon ever; every thing was electric, some of which gadgets occasionally worked, usually when least expected. The head lights had a 'door' which now-and-then would just close! Getting rid of the Grand Prix was the best thing I ever did, car-wise; that's for sure. The Catalina has been in two Pontiac commercials and I get wiper spam on it now-and-then. NOTE added 21 JULY 2003; the Catalina survived another attempted theft. The anti-theft deal that I had installed 4 years ago worked- it took a mechanic almost an hour to get the thing started and out of park - and he had installed the stuff.
1953 Chieftain 4-door sedan; bought from a family friend in 1984. Overhauled the engine and transmission on my back porch- with some intrigue, some chagrin from neighbors; promised to move as soon as I got it running so some of them helped. Paint and new interior in 2000. I get a lot of wiper spam about it and I'm really proud of it. It's been in two commercials and one movie.
