Stephanie Newbold (Ph.D., Virginia Tech) is an Assistant Professor of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Dallas. Dr. Newbold teaches courses in the legal environment of public affairs, law and the policy process, organization theory, and normative theory of public administration. Her research primarily focuses on the intellectual history of public administration scholarship, American constitutional theory, and democratic governance.
Dr. Newbold’s work has appeared in Public Administration Review, Administration and Society, and Presidential Studies Quarterly. Her award-winning work on Thomas Jefferson’s contribution to the history of American public administration is currently under contract with SUNY Press.
Prior to joining the Public Affairs program at UT-Dallas, Dr. Newbold had worked for the International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello and the Office of the White House Chief of Staff in the Clinton Administration.
