Download and Installation Guide
- Download and install StarUML.
- Download the Softgoal Profile (a zip file).
- Extract files from the zip file to the "modules" folder under StarUML installation
folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\StarUML\modules). Figure 2 shows the folder
structure after both StarUML and the Softgoal Profile have been installed. The exact name of the folder may vary to reflect the current version of the profile (e.g. ...\softgoal-1.3) . If a previous verion of the Softgoal Profile has been installed, please remove the folder before installing the new version.

- Rename "Contributors.xml" in the "modules" folder to something else, such as "Contributors-org.xml" as shown in Figure 3. This file contains the names of persons who made contributions to the free StarUML tool, where a name would automatically be selected as the default name of each newly created model element in StarUML, but changeable afterward. However, the Softgoal Profile 1.3x is designed for the user to change the element display name using tagged values (see below), leaving the default element name as a unique ID. As the result, the default contributor names could create duplicate naming conflict when a previously selected name is reused and assigned to a new element. Therefore, the "Contributors.xml" needs to be renamed so that StarUML would create unique names using a prefix given by the profile instead. To give credit to the contributors, we gratefully include the original "Contributors.xml" file here.
