Aural Habilitation

 

Rationale: To understand the evaluation of auditory skills in a child with hearing loss and develop appropriate auditory training goals, objectives, and activities.

Given: The same case you had for the Audiological Assignment

Process:

Determine the appropriate test to use for your case. Describe the test in terms of tasks, scoring, norms. For extra credit (20pts) give the test to your child or a normal hearing child of approximately the same age. Attach the score sheet to this assignment. Check with Diana Terry about the possibility of arranging a time to give it to your case.

2) Predict the results for your case on the chosen test by giving estimated scores on a mock score sheet that you make up to resemble the real one. Base your prediction on your child's hearing loss and any available normative data for the test you use.

3) Determine two auditory goals for your child based on the predicted/real results you obtain that would be appropriate for a semester timeline. For each goal list the first two objectives. For EACH objective suggest two activities and the related materials/stimuli that you could use. Your answer should look like this format…
