Audiological Case

Given:

You have been given a child with a hearing loss to study. Review your child's case history, audiologic evaluation records, and hearing aid fitting information according to the procedures for reviewing cases.

Determine the unaided and aided thresholds from the child's audiogram. Also determine the uncomfortable loudness levels for the better ear (if necessary, use predictions based on others with similar hearing loss.)

Plotting:

1) Plot the child's unaided thresholds, aided thresholds, and UCL levels on the audiogram and dB SPL plot provided.

2) Show the amplified speech spectrum on the dB SPL plot.

3) Write the amount of gain the child received at each frequency on the audiogram.

Attach a report in which you discuss the following:

1) Background  information and Summary of audiologic evaluations

2) Decide whether or not the entire average speech spectrum is audible with amplification.

3) Would you recommend that more or less amplification could be provided?

3) Explanation for your recommendations?
