TASK:
You are to observe one rehabilitation activity that involves persons with hearing loss..
The observation opportunities include:
Callier Preschool for the Hearing Impaired
Plano Independent School District
A pre-approved interview or visit to another site
FORMAT:
Make a cover page with the title of the assignment, your name, and the name of the teacher/therapist and the observation site you visited. The report should be about two typed pages (double-spaced). Include the following sections:
I. Description of the Site (age and degree of loss of clients, teacher, amplification used, room acoustics, etc.),
II. Activities Observed (who participated, mode of communication, speech/language characteristics, response to activity, etc.),
III. Description of Communication Events (evidence of breakdowns, reasons for breakdowns in terms of intentions/confirmation, barriers to communication), and
IV. Overall Impression ( What did you learn from the experience?, How did the observation meet or not meet your expectations, What questions arose as a result?, etc.)
GRADE:
150 pts possible-Points will be assigned to four areas which include content (50 pts), accuracy (50 pts), organization (25 pts), and grammar/spelling/punctuation (25 pts) .
