Slides on TCP-f

Project: Currently, all users in the class have access to the following directory: Please cd to /net/core/export/home/cs/001/c/cs6390

One member of each roup can create diretory. For example, I would do

$ cd /net/core/export/home/cs/001/c/cs6390
$ mkdir venky-group-proj

Now, I have created the directory venky-group-proj. I need to give access permissions for others in my group. Let us say the netid of the others in my group are axb010000 and bxc020000. I would execute the following command verbatim (setfacl stands for setting file access control list):

$ setfacl -m user:venky:rwx,user:axb010000:rwx,user:bxc020000:rwx,other:---,mask:rwx venky-group-proj

This will give, to the directory, rwx permission to venky, axb010000, bxc020000 and no access to others.

You can check if all is well by
$ getfacl venky-group-proj

Send me e-mail if you have problems or questions. Do not send mail to cs-tech.
