General Laboratory Policies

This laboratory will be conducted in a professional manner and students and the instructor have shared responsibility to make it an enjoyable learning experience.

  • All classes will be conducted as per the rules of UT Dallas.

  • In this laboratory you will work in teams of two. However, the lab. reports will be written individually.

  • All announcements and discussions regarding laboratory assignments will be done in the co-requisite course (EE 3320). Details of the announcements and assignments will posted on this webpage. It is the responsibility of each student to check this web page regularly for new announcements and laboratory assignments.

  • Read each week's assignment and complete pre-lab design and coding work before coming to the lab.

  • If you have any questions pertaining to pre-lab work, ABEL description, syntax, etc., please see the instructor or your TA before the scheduled time of your lab.

  • Bring the ABEL code for your designs to the digital circuits laboratory on a 3.5" floppy disk

  • You are required to submit your pre-lab work (design, schematic, ABEL code, etc.) to your TA within first 30 minutes of your lab. session. Your pre-lab work grade will be based on this submission. If you have ABEL code, schematic and wiring diagrams ready before you come to lab., you will be able to finish quite easily during the scheduled lab. period.  If you are not prepared, you may not be able to finish during the lab. period and consequently, your grade will suffer. Your TA is not required to give you extra time to complete your work.

  • Copying laboratory assignments, not doing the pre-lab or in-lab work with your partner or cheating or any other form of academic dishonesty is to be avoided. Please read the UT Dallas policy on scholastic dishonesty at:

            http://www.utdallas.edu/student/slife/dishonesty.html

  • Lab. reports: We accept only hardcopies of laboratory reports. Lab reports are due within first 30 minutes on the due date. Reports that are late by less than one week will be penalized 30%.   No report will be accepted after one week from the due date

  • Graded work: Any graded report can be disputed in writing no later than one week after the graded report is given back. Entire report will be re-graded and returned as soon as possible. Graded reports will be brought to the laboratory (ECSN 3.118) only once. If not collected then, it may be picked up from your TA's office at a later date (until one month after the end of the semester).

  • Students wanting to deal with special situations and making special requests must do so by sending an email to zhoud@utdallas.edu This leaves a record for future reference and avoids unwanted misunderstandings.
