Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering


Research and education in the Materials Science and Engineering Department involves the study of advanced materials — including metals and their composites, polymers, silicon and biomaterials — and their potential use in various applications.

Application Requirements

GPA: Minimum of 3.5 in undergraduate-level course work on a 4.0 scale

Test score required: Yes

Minimum GRE revised scores of 154, 154, and 4 for the verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing components, respectively, are advisable. 

Letters of recommendation: Required

Applicants must submit three letters of recommendation from individuals who can judge the candidate’s probability of success in graduate school. Use the electronic request form in the graduate application to submit the letters. Contact the graduate academic program department if you have any questions.
