Confucius Institute Held VIP Dinner and Inaugurated New Confucius Classroom

A Confucius Institute VIP dinner was held at McDermott Suite at UT Dallas on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Around 80 distinguished guests are invited to the dinner to celebrate the recent achievements of Confucius Institute at UT Dallas, which was awarded “Confucius Institute of the year” by Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters). A scholarly book, Translating China for Western Readers, edited by Dr. Ming Dong Gu with Rainer Schulte, was also published by State University of New York Press in 2014. The dinner was hosted by Dr. Ming Dong Gu. Dr. Dennis Kratz, Dean of School of Arts and Humanities and Dr. Inga Musselman, Senior Vice Provst gave speeches. Dr. Kratz read the congratulatory note from Dr. David E. Daniel, Present of the University of Texas at Dallas. During the dinner, a simple but warm ceremony was held to deliver the Confucius Classroom plaque to Round Rock High School, which is located in Austin and where a new Confucius Classroom was just established in January. Ms. Natalie Nichols, Principal of Round Rock High School and Ms. Xuemei Huang, Chinese instructor received the plate on behalf of Round Rock High School. Confucius Classroom at Round Rock High School is the 16th Confucius Classroom that are affiliated to the Confucius Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas.
