Course Title
Photography: Black and White: Experimental Darkroom

Description of Course:

In this darkroom based course, students will experiment with alternative printing techniques and the construction of handmade negatives, from photograms and cliché verre to Sabattier prints. Students will gain experience working in a darkroom setting and with light sensitive papers while exploring cameraless image-making. Emphasis will also be placed on the application of design elements to create unique images and developing a final portfolio based on a single concept or technique. A 35mm SLR camera is not required.

Course Requirements/Evaluation Criteria:

Prerequisite: ARTS 1316 or ARTS 2316 or ARTS 2350 or ARTS 2380 or ATEC 2382 or consent of instructor.
