Spring 2011 - Undergraduate Course Descriptions
Description of Course:
Chamber Singers is a performing ensemble of 20-24 singers. The repertoire for the ensemble will be selected from a broad range of chamber vocal literature, including both sacred and secular music spanning the Renaissance to the contemporary periods of music history and modern jazz arrangements. This semester will include choruses and ensemble numbers from Musical Theatre and Opera; plus traditional Christmas music.
Students must audition and be accepted in order to enroll in Chamber Singers. Audition times will be arranged with the instructor; please email [email protected] Students who do not pass the audition should enroll in MUSI 2327, section 501, UTD Chorale.
The course will meet twice weekly, for one and one-quarter hours per rehearsal session. Attendance is required and will affect the course grade.
The UT Dallas Chamber Singers will participate in several concerts during the semester, including:
A Tribute to Frank Sinatra in March
Annual Choral Concert, a major work for chorus and orchestra in May.
This course may be repeated for credit (9 hours maximum).
Music will be provided in class and on the instructor's website.
Course Requirements/Evaluation Criteria:
