Jazz Dance 2

Description of Course:

In this class students will study jazz dance technique at a beginning II level. Jazz dance will be taught through the practice of technique, supplemented with attendance at performances, and viewing of videos.

Course Requirements/Evaluation Criteria:

Student evaluation will be based on quality of participation, attendance, individual improvement, and writing assignments. There will be a written analysis from performance attendance. Specific movements must be accomplished and the student should have a strong dance vocabulary by the completion of the course. Oral, physical, or written quizzes may be given to evaluate these skills.

Probable Grade Breakdown:

20% Attendance
40% Participation
20% Performance attendance and analysis
10% Skill and vocabulary
10% Final Project

Prerequisite: Minimum of 9 hours in lower division ballet or jazz dance or permission of the instructor
