Description of Course:
This course is for students who can match pitches and sing in tune. They want to learn more about entertaining, inspiring, and moving audiences with their voice. The course moves through the complete performance cycle. Students will develop the most beautiful and artistic sound they can during the course. Singing in public takes a special combination of physical, intellectual, and psychological skills that have to be coordinated and practiced. The course focuses on the basic skills that must be mastered to assure success in a public performance.

Course Requirements/Evaluation Criteria:
One must be able to match pitches and sing on pitch with or without accompaniment.
One must be willing to sing in front of the class and will perform a solo at the UTD Arts Festival.
Students will be expected to improve the beauty and expressiveness of their singing and their ability to entertain an audience. Students will be graded on the progress they make towards singing beautifully and effectively.
Class attendance (absolute requirement) and practice outside of the class (absolute requirement) are strong indicators of success.
