Summer 2011 - Undergraduate Course Descriptions
Description of Course:
This course is designed to be utilized as a visual arts studio course for students who wish to further their own experimental explorations of various medium applications or to continue their current research interests while expanding their portfolio. Participants will be challenged to work on stylistic development while investigating new contextual interfaces, collaborative interactions, and the conceptual underpinnings of their work. There will be periodic group critiques as well as discussions on critical art topics presented through assigned readings and film. Discursive inquiry into the formality and analysis of critique structures as well as the importance of design application will be addressed. Participants in the course will make a presentation proposal of the direction they wish to pursue and a list of objectives. They will follow that course to the final presentation of work at the end of the 11 week semester. Students will not be required to come to class during designated studio days except for scheduled individual critiques.
Course Requirements/Evaluation Criteria:
Students must provide their own materials of choice in this course.
