Description of Course:

This course will focus on performance opportunities and performance projects. The main emphasis will be in dance, but in some instances there will be collaboration with theatre, art, and/or music.

Students wanting to fulfill course requirements through performance will be selected according to availability and movement ability. In most cases auditions will be held to determine casting. For the fall 2013 semester an audition will be held on Friday, May 3 from 1:00 - 4:00pm in Rehearsal Hall (JO 1.216). Ensemble students will also participate in the production aspects of a particular event, such as creating a project, rehearsal, technical needs, costuming, and marketing.

The fall UTD Dance Ensemble will be participating in a residency with local modern/contemporary dance artists. Local professional choreographers will set works on the ensemble students and will join them in performance on October 24 - 26, 2013.

Although there is a set meeting time on Thursday night a from 7 - 10pm, the class will work on a flexible schedule to accommodate rehearsals and production needs. Any questions concerning this course should be directed to Michele Hanlon at 972.883.2140 or 214.491.8615.

Students must audition. Students must be able to attend scheduled rehearsals which will include Fridays, Saturdays, and some Sundays from the start of the semester up to the performance in October.
