Fall 2013 - Undergraduate Course Descriptions
Description of Course:
Comprised mostly of flutes (piccolo), clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, baritones, tubas, and percussionists, this performing group will provide music for a variety of events on campus throughout the year. These performances will at times be athletic, academic, or extracurricular in nature. This is a one-credit course which will meet once each week. Our scheduled time for rehearsals is 7pm-8pm on Thursday evenings. Due to the nature of the unusual schedules for these events, there will be some flexibility with required performances.
Music and tee-shirts will be provided.
Course Requirements/Evaluation Criteria:
Students should have previous experience playing in band. Except for percussion equipment, students must supply their own instruments and accessories, such as reeds, tuners, and metronomes. Students will be expected to regularly practice parts and prepare music for rehearsals and performances. Usual required performances: Scholars' Day; Pep Rallies; Several Basketball Games. Attendance is mandatory. Students will be required to attend two events and critique two concerts during the semester
