Fall 2014 - Undergraduate Course Descriptions
Description of Course:
This course will focus on the relationship between the major art forms of literature and feature motion picture. Between six and ten major works from the western literary tradition will be selected for reading; cinematic adaptation of each of these novels will also be viewed by the class, sitting together as an audience. Each work will examined and discussed in light of the perceived tensions that exist between the two art forms, both representing the same work. Course format will be lecture, with a heavy emphasis on class discussion. This will be a reading and writing-intensive course. Complete attendance is required.
Course Requirements/Evaluation Criteria:
Complete attendance and a series of written assignments.
