Spring 2015 - Undergraduate Course Descriptions
Description of Course:
This course requires students to audition for the UTDance Ensemble. Audition will be held on December 6, 2015 in JO1.216 from 1pm - 4pm.
Students will study basic concepts and applications for Dance Composition at a beginning level. Principles and skills will be taught through the practice of assigned projects, analysis, and the creation of a complete work. Course material will also include video and reading assignments. In Spring 2015, the student composers will create the works presented in the spring MainStage dance production, April 30 - May2 as part of the course requirements. In addition, composers will perform in the dance concert.
An additional opportunity in Spring 15 is a residency with the Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company in late January and early February of 2015.The guests will be teaching the UTDance Ensemble a work which will be performed at the Eisemann Center in February. All students auditioning for the ensemble will be considered for this opportunity!
Although there is a set meeting time, the class will work on a flexible schedule to accommodate rehearsals and production needs.
