Description of Course:
Artists are living in a time where visual language is being redefined by technological means. In this course the visual dialogue of painting will be applied to the moving image. The digital software will influence and shape the ways the student perceives and carries out the practice of video painting.
The visual dialogue of painting will be applied to motion graphics. This will be primarily evident in the way the application of the software process is applied to the graphics. The projects are geared so that images, color grids and found video will be transformed by applying effects, filters and modes.
A variety of image material will be utilized such as still photography, text, color grids and appropriated open source video. The images and video will be treated on a timeline in After Effects through the use of key frames affecting the opacity, scale, position and rotation of objects along with filters.
