Course Title
The Crusades

Description of Course:

The course focuses on the main historiographical discussions among the scholars and a close reading of translated primary sources of the Crusades period. It starts with a quick historical overview of the events, campaigns, and significant actors. It covers multiple fronts of the Crusades from the Latin East to the Iberian Peninsula, but it particularly emphasizes the impact of the Crusades on the medieval Muslim actors and Islamic states. It also discusses later Crusades which were organized after the fall of the last Crusader state in 1291.
