Creating Fiction: Intermediate

Description of Course:

This will be an intermediate level creative writing fiction seminar in which students will be asked to read and discuss a large amount of original work. The thrust of the course will be toward the short story, although longer forms will be included in the overall consideration. Students will be required to produce between three and four original pieces of writing for workshop critique. This will be an intensively heavy reading and writing course. Full attendance is required. Students should have previously had a minimum of one course in creative writing fiction at the graduate level. The course will review the main elements of fiction, and much, but not all, of the original work will be written in response to prescribed prompts.
