Description of Course:
Understanding communication variables in intercultural contexts including culture and meaning, and verbal and nonverbal communication. Topics include ethnocentrism, stereotyping, prejudice, proxemics, kinesics, haptics, and chronemics. Looking at culture shock and communication and values in intercultural dialogue. Understanding how technology affects intercultural communication.
Prerequisites: Rhet 1302 and junior standing

Course Requirements/Evaluation Criteria:
Class activities include lecture with discussions and exercises. Assignments will include exams and written analytical assignments to assess theory. Oral and written projects to demonstrate an understanding of theoretical concepts.
