LeGuin and Butler

Description of Course:

Ursula LeGuin and Octavia Butler are two of America’s foremost Science Fiction writers. In this course we will read stories by LeGuin and Butler that include human abductions to alien generation ships; a man whose dreams change reality; anthropological interplanetary study; and an amnesiac vampire who must discover her past and survive the present.

Power, transformation, and prejudice are themes that these authors explore in their texts.
