Jewish Philosphy and Modernity

Description of Course:

This course examines Jewish responses to modernity. In moving, roughly chronologically, we will examine how Jewish philosophers critically examined and engaged the legacy of modernity. Readings will include texts by Martin, Buber, Franz Rosenzweig, Siegfried Kraucauer, T. W. Adorno, Walter Benjamin, Gershom Scholem, Emanual Levinas, and Jacques Derrida.
