On his New York debut, New York Times referred to Javier Calderon as “... a virtuoso of poetic sensibility.” At age 17, he thrilled the audience in his native La Paz with his performance as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Bolivia. Next, Calderon was invited to perform at the Marlboro Festival in Vermont. Soon after, Andres Segovia awarded him a scholarship to study at the Segovia Master Classes in Spain. Calderon tours annually in the Americas and performs frequently in Europe and Asia.
