Quickly Assembled/Half Burned

Saturday, September 21, 2013, 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Venue: CentralTrak
Admission: Free
Season: 2013-14

CentralTrak will be hosting the Ft Worth/Dallas-based, 13-member collective HOMECOMING! Committee as artists-in-residence for September 2013.  The artists are included in the 5th installment of the Texas Biennial and will present their sculptural project  to the public on September 21st, 8-10pm.

HOMECOMING! Committee will construct a large scale assemblage from broken and discarded IKEA furniture in CentralTrak's gallery at 800 Exposition Ave in Dallas, with the intention to eventually ship the sculpture back to Sweden.

Apparently, Sweden has been so efficient in their recycling and green energy programs that they've run out of garbage, which has been a source of energy for the progressive country.  With this project entitled "Quickly Assembled/Half Burned" or Fristkt Kopplat, Halften Brunnet  (a common Swedish term akin to the American phrase "Haste Makes Waste") HOMECOMING! Committee is attempting an act of goodwill and is hoping to help the nation that's depleted it's own garbage reserves.
