To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Confucius Institute as an institution for promoting the teaching of Chinese language and culture, the Confucius Institute at UT Dallas (celebrating their 7th anniversary) is having a “Confucius Institute Day” celebration on campus.

All are welcome to participate in the celebration and have fun!


Open Chinese Language Class
9 – 10 a.m., Jonsson Building 4.614
Preview a typical Confucius Institute Chinese language class and learn a few Chinese words.

Chinese Culture Corner
10:30 – 11:30 a.m., Jonsson Building
4th floor, Chinese Culture Experience Corner Practice your Chinese by playing games.

Chinese Art Exhibition
10 a.m.–10 p.m., Clark Center, lobby
View an exhibition of artwork by artists from Southeast University.

Chinese Art Demonstration
2 – 3 p.m., Clark Center, lobby
See demonstrations by the artists from Southeast University.

Chinese Calligraphy Competition
3 – 4 p.m., Clark Center, lobby
Learn to use ink and brush to write Chinese characters.

Song of Cathay – Highlights of Traditional Chinese Music
7 – 9 p.m., Clark Center, auditorium
Enjoy traditional music from different regions of China performed by Huayun Orchestra.

Performed by Huayun Orchestra, a folk music band affiliated to the Confucius Institute, Song of Cathay presents the most classic Chinese folk music. Featuring the geographical and ethnic diversities of China, the concert consists of two parts “The Wind from the East” and “The Magnificent Westland” — providing a golden opportunity to understand the Chinese culture in a melodious way.
